About Isekai Odyssey

Stories Behind Streets.

Isekai Odyssey is a Singapore-based tour company founded by Adam Chay, a licensed Singapore tourist guide and former museum docent.

Through private, story-led walking tours, Isekai Odyssey helps travellers understand Singapore's heritage neighbourhoods, multicultural food, historic places and everyday local life—not merely see its famous attractions.

Why Isekai Odyssey?

Step beyond the familiar and enter another world.

“Isekai” (pronounced ee-seh-kai) is a Japanese term meaning “another world.” An odyssey is a long and adventurous journey of discovery.

Together, the name reflects the experience Isekai Odyssey hopes to create: helping travellers step beyond the Singapore they recognise from postcards and discover the cultures, communities and human stories behind its streets.

You may begin the tour in a familiar neighbourhood. By the end, you may see it as an entirely different world.

A colourful heritage lane in Singapore

Our guiding idea

Every street has more than one story.

Singapore's neighbourhoods were shaped by migration, trade, faith, family, conflict and constant urban change.

A place of worship may reveal the story of a migrant community. A hawker dish may carry generations of family tradition. A conserved building may show how Singapore has negotiated the relationship between progress and memory.

Isekai Odyssey connects the places you visit with the people and events that gave them meaning. That is what Stories Behind Streets represents.

A more personal way to explore

Conversation and context—not a rehearsed sightseeing lecture.

Every Isekai Odyssey tour is designed to encourage curiosity, conversation and a deeper understanding of Singapore.

Stories before checklists

The purpose is not simply to cover as many landmarks as possible. Each route focuses on stories that help you understand the places you encounter.

Context, not isolated facts

History, culture, faith, food and everyday life are connected so that names, dates and buildings become part of a larger human story.

Private and personal

Your experience is reserved for your group, allowing time for questions, conversation and exploration at a comfortable pace.
